Our Improver courses are designed to further develop skills garnered on our Beginner Jewellery Course and a great option if you have attended classes elsewhere and know how to anneal and solder. Contact us if you require a skill level assessment.
On this course you will learn how to design and make a silver bracelet or necklace using cabochon or rose cut stones. The project will guide you through the whole process from design through to fabrication.
The bracelet is comprised of many repeated elements which involve a range of different processes to achieve the final piece. It is through this repetition that students practice and hone their making skills which can be transferred to other projects.
With direction from the project brief you will start by drawing out your design, from there you will source your materials to suit your taste, design and budget.
Next we will take your designs into the workshop and break them down into their individual components to begin the step by step process of fabrication with full direction from the tutor.
As the whole class is focused on this project it's a great shared learning opportunity. On completion students will have strengthened confidence in their ability to design, work to a budget, solder and set cabochon stones with a higher proficiency in their technical ability.
Sundries such as solder and saw blades are included in the course fees. Metals, findings and a variety of stones are available for purchase at the school or feel free to bring your own to work with.
