Course Overview

Setting Square Gemstones Part 2

Learn about settings for small square gemstones. We cover how to set square and rectangular facetted stones precisely with a professional finish.

Making mounts for and setting rectangle or squares stones brings a series of technical challenges to consider. These settings are reminiscent of the Art Deco style which you can use in your ring designs or combine to create elegant pendants.

On this course you will learn how to set square and rectangular stones precisely ensuring crisp edges and a professional finish. To achieve this the course is divided into two projects, starting out simple and becoming progressively more challenging.

Course Schedule

Project 1

  • Single Mounts for Small Square Faceted Stones
In this project we will learn how to make mounts and set faceted stones under 5.5mm.

Project 2

  • Channel Setting
The project will be a channel setting that can be used for multiple square stones or a single rectangular stone.
