Course Overview

Gold Jewellery Course – 2 Day Introduction

Learn to recycle old gold jewellery or use new gold grain to create a beautiful gold jewellery piece from scratch. Beginner friendly.

Class size: Limited to 5 spaces

This two-day, hands-on gold jewellery course is designed to teach the art of goldsmithing, from creating your own raw gold material to finishing a personalised piece of jewellery. Whether you’re working with recycled gold jewellery or fresh gold grain, you will learn essential techniques, including alloy identification, gemstone setting, and gold finishing options. On completion of the course you will leave with a beautifully crafted piece of jewellery made entirely by you.

We run this course as a small class size limited to just 5 students for a more personal hands on learning experience.

Course Schedule

Day 1: Creating Raw Material & Understanding Gold Alloys

  • Explore the differences between various gold alloys and learn how to identify each by recognising hallmarks.
  • Learn how to recycle old gold jewellery or use new gold grain to create your own raw material.
  • Master the techniques of rolling and drawing metal to create various section wires for your design.
  • Begin crafting your unique piece of jewellery using the gold you’ve prepared.

Day 2: Crafting & Finishing

  • Continue shaping your piece, adding a small gemstone with a precise gold tube setting.
  • Explore alternatives to working with solid gold, including gold plating and filled gold finishes to add a professional touch to your designs.

This course is available in 2 ticket options to suit your budget. Keep costs to a minimum by recycling your old gold jewellery or use new 9ct gold grain to work with. See Materials section on this page for more details.
